I have a friend who proclaims white power is just promoting pride in the white race. I agree that people should be proud in who they are , but i disagree that whites should be able to say white power just as african americans can say black power. When the playing field is as unequal as it is, you can say that you're proclaiming your power when the playing field isn't equal. When blacks, and asians, and hispanics, and Middle Easterners are still all under the white power and we've been oppressed for so long that minorities give themselves power by saying Black Power, Azn Pride, etc. So it is still rather unfair to say white power, when middle eaasterners are 3 times as likely to be checked by the police at airports, and when blacks are 5 times as likely to be a suspect during a murder case. I don't think that there is any sense in saying "white power" when we're still under a predominantly white culture. If you look at any corporation, or a group of CEO's from somewhere they can tout themselves as being a racially diverse group of people when theres an african american and maybe and asian amongst them. But then you can look around and see the other 18 people are white, and it's true like this in almost everywhere you go. Politics, Businesses, School Boards, etc. And now in this new age, when white people have gotten past the colonialism, they've already reaped the benefits of keeping other races oppressed, and now they're all like, "let's be equal" and are shocked when other people say "no" because we're all still below them, it isn't equal and they're like "ohmygod, what did we do wrong?" and they can't realize that because of the fact they kept blacks and hispanics in america so low and middle easterners and asian in their OWN country so low, that we're still trying to get up to the level that they're on. It's just shocking that they think that now because they've gotten what they'd wanted from us, that we're now equal. We're not, and proclaiming white power in an overwhelmingly white majority isn't going to help your case about being equal.
